Passion and Prayers

when we think about the word passion ,the last thing that comes to our mind is prayers. For passion evokes emotional excitement ,zeal, comittment and in our minds a lot of drama.

But ,this is the key to a wonderful consistent ,persistent life of prayer.for many of us our prayer rooms are cold and uninviting because of a lack of passion for the God we are praying to.Every one who prayed and continued praying,with effectiveness in scriptures were all passionate people.

These peoples passion attracted God to them.Lets begin with our perfect example even our Lord Jesus Christ.In mark1vs35 it says 'a great while before morning Jesus goes to a solitary mountain to pray.In the garden of gethsemane ,Jesus prayed so hard and with such passion that scripture says His sweat was like drops of blood.

From kings to prophets,to ordinary men and women,bible tells us of extraordinary feats of prayer that brought down heaven to earth,and literally moved God's hand. From David ,the psalms are full of this one man's passion and love for God.psalm42vs1

'As the deer pants after the water brooks so pants my heart after you ,O God ,when will i come before you.

One of my all time favorite is found in psalm63vs8, ''my soul followeth hard after thee; thy right hand upholds me.Read the whole psalm and your time with God in the prayer room will never be boring again i promise you that.

Elijah was a man of like passion as us ,but he prayed that there will be no rain,and he prayed again and the rain returned.Every time elijah prayed there was fire in one form or anther.

women were not left out,Anna prayed and was the only second person to recognise that the little child joseph and mary brought to the temple was the messiah.Hannah,sarah,rachel,jechobed,and many more. Their testimonies litter the bible of their incredible love for God and passion.

Jesus said ''men ought always to pray and not faint'.luke18vs1 ,without passion this an impossible feat,because prayer is an intensely spiritual phenomenum. Here Jesus told three parables of people who prayed and received answers because passion made them bold to dare to ask and refused to be denied.It also made them believe with conviction and confidence ,first in the person of God and the matter they have brought before God, which is His word or promise.

so the next time you go to the prayer room ,make sure you take with you passion,it will attract God and it will sustain you in the place of prayers.

Join me as we pray today,my Father in heaven,i come to you with all my heart and i ask that in your mercy ,you pour upon me the spirit of grace and supplication.By your Holy Spirit stir up passion and fervency within me ,and deep love for you in my heart,that my prayers will be effective.
