Ephesians 6vs11--------
Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Verse13------------------
Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil days, and having done all, to stand.
The battles of this life will test the strongest man to the limit and those found standing at the end are the really strong ones. That is why verse10 our text began with 'Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might'. To stand is to maintain your spiritual position at all times at all cost. It is to hold on to the word of God that is true, strong and powerful to uphold you. The word is the anchor that holds the soul, steadfast and sure while the billows of life rolls over us.
To stand, is to have your hope built on the Rock of Ages, for as hymnal warns us, all other ground is sinking sand. To stand is to agree with queen Esther, that in the face of intense opposition you are willing to risk your life and say-----it is not according to the law [it is not normal] but i will go to the king and if i perish i perish. Because to stand beloved of God is take a risk, for faith is in itself is a risky venture. From the patriachs to the apostles, they all took a risk so the gospel can reach us today.
To stand is to earnestly contend for the faith that was once handed to us, so we too can hand it over to the next generation, the next generation is in jeopardy of missing the mark of God's glory if we do not stand by the abounding mercies of God, To stand is to agree with Job that 'though He slay yet will i serve, for in life or death i know my redeemer liveth.
Because to stand means steadfastness, it is to be fully persuaded that Jesus is the Lord God Almighty, that there is no other God before Him, and there will never be another. we live in a generation that believes in Relativity, truth is relative and even faith is relative and they have all the arguments, many in the church have also caught the relativity bug as it were. Marriage is one institution that have been subjected to the relativity campaign and every year around the world there is a new controversy about the definitions of marriage and divorce. The meaning has been stretched so far and so thin that even christians do not quite understand what is real anymore. The main target of this assault is your seed. The enemy wants to corrupt our seed and weaken the quality of our seed. The high divorce rate in the church has added to the confusion of the next generation. That divorce is permitted or allowed does not mean it is a relative issue. There is nothing relative about the word of God '' for the Lord God of Israel saith I hate divorce''.
Because we live in a fallen world and divorce has become part of our experience does not make relative or that it should be tolerated and handled with kids gloves. In the face of this campaign against all that we cherish and hold dear, we must dare to stand.
To stand is a willingness to lay down your life because you are convinced and committed to what you believe. Moses and apostle Paul were willing to die for their people the Jews, in the account of the heroes of faith in Hebrews 'they all died in faith-----' revelations says of them they loved not their lives unto death'.Am not talking about becoming a CNN hero, as great as that is, am talking about standing so the will of God can be done in our sphere of influence and if it pleases the Lord of our lives, even to the the nations.
To stand is to say with Joseph ''how can i commit this great sin against God, and be willing to be thrown into jail so that the destiny of a nation and their birth right will not be sold for stolen pleasure and as one pastor put's it, for five minutes of madness. Again to stand is to agree with Shadrach Meschech and Abednego before the fiery furnace and say 'our God is able to save us from the furnace but if not we will still not bow to your image. To stand is to be with Paul and Silas in jail and sing praises to God and pray for the salvation of your jailors. Notice that to stand is a position of preparedness, readiness and alertness. This is the time to stand, are you standing?. My weakness and your weakness is no longer an excuse, for He says when we are weak then His strength is made perfect. where ever you find your self, whether in the market place or in the church, home, school, job,Let's all stand up for Jesus
These are not fables, these are historical facts and we have bible and the first century church history as proof. Beloved of the Lord we have precedence and as the bible put's a great cloud of witnesses, watching and cheering us on and encouraging us, we upon whom the ends of the age has come, to once again having done all to stand.
Today we just looked at the different perspective of our text, and also to provoke each other according to scriptures unto good works. we will continue the conversation in the days ahead. God bless you.
