Hey,hope you have all been heating up your prayer rooms. Mine has been as i consider the thorny issue of failed relationships. Relationships beginning with ours with God,to our relationship with each other in marriage ,seems to be taking a direct hit in recent times. we need to understand that the two go together ,they are infact two sides of the same coin. Failure in one often leads to failure in the other,even though marriage experts will have believe differently.
The honeymoon season of marriage does not last long as we would like it.And the reason for that is simple marriage is a covenant relationship, not a contract that can be entered into when emotions are high,and broken when emotions are low.
There are too many of us today basing a life long relationship on our feelings, not suprising that we are in crises. This attitude has also been transfered to our relationship with God. Human emotions and feelings should never be trusted because they are unstable,unreliable,they are like waves,they come with such force one moment and the next they are gone,leaving just some murky foaming water on the sea shore.
Love is what sustains marriage.And this love is an act of the will.Today we fall in love and also fall out of love as quickly.But God did not fall in love with us,He planned to love us ,it was an act of His divine will. Thank God . Otherwise He would have given up on us because are so unfaithful.We too should by an act of our wills plan to love our spouses and even friends.
Because human love is often feeble and frail,we must constantly with perseverence pray for our marriages. In John2 ,we see Mary the mother of Lord Jesus praying and asking Him to replenish the wine for the wedding feast.
Jesus answered and provided the best wine. '' Never forget it is nature of wine to run out,but it is the nature of God to replenish and renew,and refresh the wine for marriage.
We must therefore pray until our wine is restored. Do not give up your marriage shall abide,it will overcome the spirit of divorce because what's so ever is born of God overcomes the world. This december join me as we take the first 3 days to pray for marriages,yours,parents,or friends that you know are going through challenges.
pray these scriptures,----John2, Genesis 2vs18-25,proverbs 10vs22.
If we will pray then God is faithful to bless us with honeymoon in season and out of season.
