My heart is broken into a thousand pieces as i hear stories of pain, hurt, abuse, unprintable things done to women by the men in their lives who ought to love them, cherish them, protect them .Their proctectors have become their accusers and abusers. From London to Nigeria, to Canada and the USA the story is the same. In this generation human trafficking has increased, and the question is , is there hope, is there help and redemption for the woman?.
In 2Samuel 13 we read the heart breaking story of Tamar one of David's daughters, in verse 12 ''Tamar said, Don't force me, such a thing should not be done in Israel, don't do this wicked thing-----where could i get rid of my disgrace?' Verse 14 '' But he refused to listen to her and since he was stronger than her, he raped her'--------Verse18 she was wearing a richly ornamented robe for this was the kind of cloth the virgin daughters of the king wore. Vs19-----Tamar put ashes on her on her head and tore the ornamented robe she was wearing. she put her hand on her head and went away, weeping aloud as she went. Verse20 ----And Tamar lived in her brother's Absalom's house, a desolate woman.
Verse21 'When king David heard he was furious-----'.
This is the death of a dream, the dream of womanhood, the ornamented robe that signified that dream was torn, her cover was gone and she spent the rest of her life in desolation. This was not God's plan for this young girl, someone stole her God given dream. Her father did absolutely nothing, her father's anger and her brother's hatred will not work the righteousness of God, it did not restore her dignity, honor nor her dream of womanhood. In this matter, both her father and brother failed her and they definitely failed God. Today there are many desolate women even in the church, they are believers but they are living in shame and fear. This was never God's plan for them.
I speak to the heart of every Tamar, there is definitely redemption and broken dreams can be restored, You do not have to live in desolation any more. For you Christ Jesus came,He died and rose again from the dead, so He can defend you, plead your cause, and lift up your head. He is here to restore your dignity as a woman, heal your broken heart and also restore your shattered dreams. For over 2000 years that's what He has been doing. The reason we are still desolate and ashamed because we are looking at the wrong person for help. Scripture says He is your glory and the lifter up of your head' In Christ the ornamented robe can be restored again, and made as new. One of the reasons i have been able to resist the accusations of the enemy-----God called him the accuser of the brethren, is because of the word of God that is eternal and shall not return void .
In 2Corithians 5vs 17, '' whosoever is in christ is a new creation, old things have passed away, all things have become new, and all things are of God.'' So your robe may be torn, but He is here to restore, you are new again. Woman when God thinks of you as He often does because it is written He is mindful of you, He will rejoice over you with singing.
This is how He sees you, Psalm 45vs13 ----''All glorious is the princess within her chambers, her gown is interwoven with gold, vs 14 in embroidered garment she is led to the king, her virgin companions follow her, ----- they are led with joy and gladness and enter the palace of the king'. Did you see any desolation here, definitely not, listen and listen to me good '' You are the daughter of the King of kings and the Lord of Lords. Do not let anyone, and i mean anyone tell you any different.
In vs 9 -11, of psalm 45, it says you are;; an honored woman, a royal bride, the King is enthralled by your beauty. As a christian woman if the men in your life, father, husband, brothers will not treat you as Christ sees you it is their loss. All that the Lord, the lover of your soul, your best friend, your defender and the lifter up of your head is asking is for for you to honor Him, for He alone is your Lord.
When our Lord Jesus was on His earthly ministry, He met a lot of women whose royal ornamented robe had been torn assunder, and the women were living in desolation. It became a major part of His ministry, to restore the dignity and honor of these women , and womanhood in general and by extension to you and i. To the woman at well of Samaria He became the 7th husband, the perfect man, the only man that can truly satisfy her hungry and thirsty soul to be loved, cherished, valued, protected, the only man bold enough to break the traditions of men to talk to a woman, an out cast of society made so by man made laws. All she had to do was believe Him, trust Him, and honor Him.
What happened to this was a transformation; she came to the well an out cast, in shame, because she could not go the well like other women, but at the well she met a man who was not ashamed of her, or ashamed to be seen with her and speak with her. At the well she found and received living waters springing forth out of her; instead of the little pot she had carried all her life; that never refreshed nor satisfied her thirst. O precious daughter of Zion, where are you?. come to the well just as you are, He is there waiting for you, just for you. The water a man or society will give you will never quench your test, and that little pot of water is too expensive because you are paying with your life . But the living water is free of charge from the only man who will ever dare to die for you.
Transformed, renewed, bursting with new life and living water, no longer ashamed, with head held high, her royal robe restored she ran to the city, to the men, to the society and culture that did not give her a chance, ''come see the man who told me every thing i ever did, is this not the messiah?. Yes, her maker and husband and now her redeemer, the Lord of Hosts is His name, has come and so she can be bold to face her accusers. Beloved sister like the woman of Samaria it does not matter who you have been with or where you have been, He is here for you. It is written "He must needs go through Samaria----', just for one desolate woman, He will come anywhere to find you.
Every husband, every father, even pastor need to understand that your authority over the woman is a trust not to be abused. Because brethren God will ask you, 'where is the wife of your youth?' as He asked the priests and men in Judah during the time of prophet Malachi. Jesus the perfect pastor said to God His father, 'all that you have given me none is missing except the son of perdition. God is asking christian men, where is your wife, daughter, where are the women in your life?. I want to encourage both men and women look out for your family, make sure they are not left desolate.
In the face of her accusers mary of Bethany bowed before her Lord and savior, she did not listen to them neither did she answer them, her focus, attention was only on the lover of her soul, her defender, the only one who can lift up her head, restore her dignity and glory. And while the men critisized her including the disciples Jesus rose up to her defence.''Let her alone she has done a good work------ that's all you need to hear.'' Mk14. I really want women to stop being afraid of our accusers ,it does not matter what they say about us, as long we are at His feet worshipping it will be alright. I really need us to get it into our very spirit and soul that the Lord Jesus is our story. And where ever His story is told, our story, the story of the woman will be told.
And from Mary of Bethany to Mary Magdalene the story is the same. From a demon possessed to the the preacher of the resurrection--- a woman?. so if you have ever been accused, despised, abused, abandoned, forsaken, outcast, shattered dreams, then welcome to the the grooming room, the preparation room. It is the stuff fairy tales are made of.
Because from here you are in the great Potters hands, He will make the mared clay into a princess, a royal bride, and fiery evangelists , that is really fairy tale.
I have a dream of an awakening generation of women like Deborah a wife and a prophetess, like the Zelophehad sisters , like queen Esther, the Marys in the New Testament, wives mothers, single women, He met them in different stages of desolation, but their lives changed for ever. We have the opportunity to be that generation of women too today. Tamar remained desolate but we can be transformed and restored, women in love with Jesus.
In 2Samuel 13 we read the heart breaking story of Tamar one of David's daughters, in verse 12 ''Tamar said, Don't force me, such a thing should not be done in Israel, don't do this wicked thing-----where could i get rid of my disgrace?' I am so happy to have reconnected with you again through your words. I was a member of the communion church,Abuloma,Port Harcourt in the 90s and I saw you preach there a couple of times. You are one woman I have greatly admired.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of what the men in our lives do to us, we should keep being focused and do what God has called us to do. We have ministries to a dying world and we would not let anything kill our ministry. Ride on woman of God. The Lord is with you.
When a woman chooses to minister to other women, despite the fact that she's hurting, despite her own grief.......I hold my hands with you ma
